Two more firsts for Lily...

Lily's first ER visit:
On Sunday she went from being just fine to refusing to walk or stand, favoring her right leg and was inconsolable. Finally we took her to the ER, wondering if somehow she'd fallen and broken something. Hours, ultrasounds, and X-rays later, the MD came to the conclusion that she probably had a virus settle into her hip socket, causing "transient hip pain". The treatment: nothing. But, we are glad we took her since she was reluctant to walk the next day, and then kept on tripping and falling. Today she seemed like her usual self, hooray.

Lily's first potty experience:

Lily has been insisting on using the potty and letting me know when she has to go. This started a few months ago, but I just wasn't ready for potty training and all the fun that goes with it. I finally got Spencer's potty down for her after some near falling in experiences with the regular potty. She loves her potty so much she doesn't want to leave it. She will just sit and sit and clap and smile, check her progress, and sit again. The only problem-she hates underwear and won't leave them on. Yes, I have a streaker on my hands. Oh well. I'll have a few months of diaper free days before Emma comes in November.

What? She's potty trained already? We tried Emily at 26 months or so and it was a total bust. I did the "potty train your kid in three days" method. Yeah, right. We tried again at two and a half and even then it took a few months for her to get it down 100%. It was brutal. I'm not even going to try with Dallin till age three. Looks like I need your secret, huh?

The secrets:
-You child must be ready, and all are ready at different ages (I believe second children are easier since they have an example. Lily wants to do everything Spencer does.)
-Get the book: "Toilet Training in Less Than A Day" It worked great for us! Spencer still had a few accidents, but overall it was a success.
FYI I haven't done the book with Lily yet, she has been so compliant aready (not fully trained yet, mind you) Her real "potty day" will be next week.
