I haven't yet been back to work since Lily's birth. It has been VERY nice, but of course, if you don't work you don't get a paycheck(and who can't use a little extra money?). I have been thinking this week about homemakers and the value of that role. Many things have come to mind and so I share them on our blog.
My paycheck this week as a mother and homemaker :
-An unlimited supply of hugs and kisses from the kids and my hubby
-Seeing Spencercito giving kisses to Lily, and then secretly trying to feed her his cereal
-Lily smiling right before she goes to sleep, just as I walk by, and during her meals or snacks. She has such a sly grin sometimes, if she wasn't a newborn I'd think she was up to something.
-Having Spencercito continue to ask just once more (all day long) for a fruit snack, in hopes that maybe this time(2 seconds later) I'd say yes.
-His happy face when he actually gets one since he peed in the potty.
-Hearing Spencercito sing the ABC's in ENGLISH (where is he learning this?)
-Hearing Spencercito say "Te amo mami" and blowing me kisses out of the blue
-Sleeping snuggled next to two people that I love, my baby and my hubby
-Cooking whatever I want for dinner, whenever (within reason)
-Time to have a clean house (and it stays that way, until the kids wake up)
-Unlimited naps (okay, only while the kids are napping)
-Having time to go swimming everyday
-Reading stories, playing cars and singing silly songs
-Watching Spencer and Lily learn and grow
-A happy and healthy family
I could go on, each day is filled with precious moments in their constantly changing lives, and I absolutely love being a part of it. In short, my paycheck is priceless!

Yes, big props to homemakers!! If an apostle (E. Ballard) gives props to us, then we can give props to ourselves, right?? Didn't you love his talk and Conf. in general? I sure did. I love all those little fleeting "paycheck" moments too.
